Sam's Guinea Pigs

This morning my family and I brought  my guinea pigs in. We got to hold them and give them cuddles. Their names are Bubbles, Squeak and Pickles.  They behaved themselves most of the time.    by Sam

Yesterday we had athletics day. We dressed in our house colours. I liked the  baton race the best.

Sketching Plants

 This morning we went to the garden to sketch a plant. We are learning to hold the sketching pencil in the right position.My picture looked beautiful and so did the others,we worked very hard all right,WHEW.!  Emily

 I am sketching a calundula flower. It was really hard to copy off the flower but I tried my best at drawing a flower.

The School Garden

We went to the garden to look at the plants because we are learning about plants and how they grow.
It was fun. We saw some strawberries and some caterpillars on a swan plant. Our beans we planted last term had already been picked.

Mmmmmm Popcorn

We are writing instructions on how to make popcorn.

Mask fun

 On Monday we made masks. They  were kea masks. We used yellow feathers, green feathers and gold feathers. Then we designed our own masks. I made a guard that has a sword. Wade and Mana made the same masks. Then we shared our ideas with the class.

We are making masks for assembly on Friday. I did a cat.I made it out of cardboard, paper and green buttons and orange buttons. I put ear rings on it. They were pink. The nose came off and it was funny. Taila's button nose came off too.

Masks

Today we worked hard with our buddy from room 6 to stick the feathers on our masks. We have made a kea mask each. We will need a green top or t-shirt to wear to the parade.

Gymnastics Fun

We are having lots of fun learning how to balance, roll and land safely in gymnastics.

We designed our own masks. We used coloured pencils, crayons and paper. This is the start of looking at masks. We are going to make masks for the masked parade

Room Seven's Eggs

Room 7 have been looking after their eggs and keeping them safe. Brodie made a hospital for the broken eggs.

Keeping Ourselves Safe

Constable Garland came again today. He told us about good touches we like and make us feel happy, bad touches we don't like and make us feel sad and 'I don't know' touches that make us feel confused. He said we must always tell somebody we trust if we are hurt or confused.

Constable Garland Visits

Constable Garland came to talk to us about keeping ourselves safe. We had to introduce ourselves by saying our name and address. He told us to stand tall and be proud of ourselves. We talked about our feelings as well.

Maisie's Guinea-pig

I brought Snookums  to school.She liked  being at school.She's  black and  white . The  kids  were  very  gentle  with  Snookums. Snookums  was  talking  a lot.

Dress Up Day

Today  was dress up day.I dressed up as a mermaid. We had dress up day  so we could raise money  for Natureland. We got $458 to help feed the animals. Ms Norgate and the councillors will take it there.

Ronald McDonald Visits Us

 

 Ronald McDonald came to visit us. He told us that when we cross a sneaky drive way we have to stop, look and listen.

He took the road patrol lollipop out of his pocket!  It was really funny. He told everyone about safety before you cross the road.

Oranges Perform A Play

We did a play and it's called 'Don't hurt me.' It was lots of fun. Alice was the frog and tiger. Carson was the fox and elephant. Noah was the caterpillar and hare

Wacky Hair Day

Today is Wacky  hair day. I had  really wacky  hair. I  had a  hair tie on the top of my head.Then I had  a big puffy bun which has pipe cleaners sticking out of it and sparkles on it too.

My  hair  is wacky  alright.  It has six bunches which are coloured red, blue and yellow. We are collecting money to but some i-pads.

Matariki Celebrations

We celebrated Matariki last week. We ran down the hill with our kites and Mrs T  took  a picture. Some of us came to school early on Friday to have our breakfast together.

Chatterbox Chickens

We used  a  plastic cup, a  string  and  a sponge. Then  we  put  water  in  the  cup and we  got the  sponge. Next  we  put  the sponge  on the string  and  pulled it  up. Then  it  mad a  noise.  The  noise  sounds  like  'cockadoodledoo'.   It  hurts  my  head.

Matariki kites

This week we celebrated Matariki, the maori new year. We all     made a kite and I came to school early today to have breakfast with my aunty and my friends.

Sound

We did an experiment to see how sound waves work. I had to hit the balls hard with a box. It made energy. The balls hit each other and travelled along the floor.

Fun Run

 We were  dressed in our house colours for the Fun Run.

We went  to the beach  for the fun run. Moana were the best team. I liked making the sandcastle the best.

Science experiment

We want to know do you hear sounds as soon they are made. We put flour in the balloon. Then we popped it and the rest of the class stood a long way off. They saw the flour come out before they heard the pop. That proves that you don't always hear sounds straight away.

School Disco

  

I went to the school disco with Janeille and Vichena. We dressed up like princesses. The taniwha had fun dancing with all the kids.

The science of sound

We  are  learning  how to do science about sound. We put a nut in the balloon and blew it up. We shook it round and round and the nut made some vibrations inside. It sounded like a buzzing bee.
